Starting out in 1953 as a steward from the second graduating class of flight attendants for Lufthansa airlines, Walter Dold, our founder's career took him all the way to manager of the Honolulu sales office located in the Moana Hotel in Waikiki. It was in 1969 when Walter had to make one of the biggest decisions of his life. Lufthansa decided to close the Hawaii sales office, and he had three months to choose to return to San Francisco with Lufthansa or stay in this beautiful city he loved. The answer was European World Travel.

Walter's father owned and ran the "Prinz Friedrich", a little inn and restaurant in the heart of Heidelberg, Germany. It was there were Walter first learned service was a very important part of business. Growing up and helping his parents operate the inn during and after World War II, he realized all customers wanted great value for their hard earned money.

As with many companies, the beginning was rough, and Walter spent many hours working hard in the office. Being the owner of a small travel agency, he did everything from stuffing tour fliers in envelops to picking up customers and taking them to get their passports, seeing off groups at the airport to showing travel movies in people's garages, and from emptying rubbish cans to washing windows.

Over the years business got better and Walter had established two more companies under European World Travel's wing: Pacific Accommodations, an inbound division which specializes in bringing in German visitors to Hawaii; and Euroworld, a wholesale business which offers a wide range of travel services for travel agencies.

In 1972 Walter's wife, Jutta Dold, joined European World Travel as an official employee. She had always helped out at the office, but it was only then that she started receiving paychecks. Jutta worked during the day selling travel, and at night did the accounting, the typesetting, and anything else needing to be done.

Jutta knew very little about travel when she began, but she was great at accommodating her customers. Jutta believes that for many people travel is a dream, and her role as a travel agent is to "make people's dreams come true". Today she has sent people to just about every travelable destination in the world.

While many people know Jutta as a great travel agent and the general manager of European World Travel and Pacific Accommodations, many more people know her as one of the best tour escorts in Hawaii. Persia, Tibet, Scandinavia, Bali, Kenya, Iceland, Faeroe Islands, Vietnam, Mount Kilimanjaro, Egypt, Xian, Ireland, Siberia, Moscow, Istanbul, Agra, and Brunei are just a few of the places she has led Hawaii groups. Her lovable personality and her German stubbornness to get things done make her the perfect group leader.

Lynnell Yee started with the company as an intern for her college studies back in 1974. Today Lynnell is one of the most knowledgeable travel agents in the United States. She heads Euroworld and our Cruise desk, and she is an experienced tour escort.

Anita Burns has been with the company since 1984, working on every aspect of Pacific Accommodations. Her care for the customer is unmatched. She is our very own "Hawaiian Host." Anita is an expert on travel to Hawaii and, being an avid traveler and born in Sweden, she knows a thing or two about Europe.

Being the son of Walter and Jutta, Alexander Dold, is now the one working on promotions, seeing off groups, emptying rubbish cans, and washing the windows. Although he has been a part of this company since his birth, he officially joined in 1990. Today he is in charge of the group department and most of the tasks that come along with running a business.

A former award winning sales person, Rose O'Conner started working for us in 2006 in a clerical position within our group department. Being very upbeat and service oriented, it was obvious Rose was destined to get back into sales. Having fantastic follow through, Rose is one of our top producers.

At the end of 2007, Doreen Dold began her travel career with us. Doreen's primary job is fulfilling brochure requests and handling all the paper work for our escorted groups. With 600 to 800 group members a year that is no easy task. With her unbelievable desire to help others she is fast becoming a very important member of our staff.
