Journey to the end of the world and back on this thrilling Cruise & Tour vacation. Begin in vibrant Santiago, Chile, where you enjoy a guided city sightseeing tour and two overnights. Then continue to Valparaiso, a picturesque seaport. Board your 16-night Holland America cruise ship and sail south. Along the way, experience beautiful Puerto Montt in Chilean Patagonia. See the Chilean Fjords and Amalia Glacier. Keep an eye out for penguins and seabirds that call the glacier home. Pass along the west side of the Sarmiento Canal and through the famed Strait of Magellan, where the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans meet. Then continue to Ushuaia, the southernmost town in the world. Dominating peaks loom on three sides, and the fourth opens to Beagle Channel, where sea lions bellow and king crabs rule. Cruise around Cape Horn and on to Stanley, Falkland Islands. Here experience British hospitality and the chance to see penguins of every type. Cruise to Buenos Aires, Argentina, and enjoy two days to explore the city. Cruise onward to Montevideo, Uruguay, where you can opt to visit nearby Colonia del Sacramento, the oldest city in Uruguay. After cruising two more days, disembark in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, one of the most exciting cities in the world! On your guided sightseeing tour of Rio de Janeiro, see the statue of Christ the Redeemer crowning Corcovado Mountain, a rounded peak rising 2,300 feet from the bay below. Take the scenic cog railway ride to its top for 360-degree panoramic views. A barbecue feast and samba show, as well as a full day of leisure to discover Rio de Janeiro at your own pace, are the ideal ending to your South America cruise vacation.
