Overview

Click map for larger size

From Anchorage to Fairbanks, see what the "Big Land" of Alaska has to offer on this exhilarating vacation. Begin your trip in Anchorage, Alaska's largest city, and travel through the Matanuska Valley and over Tahneta Pass to the seaside port of Valdez. Board a boat for a cruise on Prince William Sound and along the 3-mile face of Columbia Glacier. Keep an eye out for wildlife, including seals, sea otters, birds, and even whales. In Alaska's second-largest city of Fairbanks, enjoy panning for gold at the Eldorado Gold Mine and cruising on the Chena and Tanana Rivers. Next, board the world-famous Alaska Railroad for a journey through untamed wilderness to Denali National Park, where you seek out grizzly bears, caribou, moose, and other interesting wildlife in the shadow of the 20,320-foot Mount McKinley, North America's highest peak. In Denali National Park, you have free time to explore on your own or join in optional activities, including a helicopter ride over the park. On your way back to Anchorage, stop at the Iditarod Headquarters. In Anchorage, enjoy a guided city sightseeing tour and then travel one of the world's most scenic drives to Seward, where you board a cruise through Kenai Fjords National Park for an opportunity to see glaciers calving into the sea, orcas, humpback whales, sea otters, and more. What a wonderful way to top off your Spectacular Alaska vacation!
