Overview Click map for larger sizeRelive the days of the Wild West and explore stunning natural wonders. Head north from Salt Lake City to Jackson, gateway to Grand Teton National Park. The Teton Range rises sharply from the basin floor and includes eight peaks over 12,000 feet in elevation. This wall of giant mountain peaks runs for over 40 miles. Seven pristine lakes, created by glaciers, run along the base of the range. Watch for wildlife, as elk, moose, mule deer, and bison are commonly seen by visitors to the park. Travel on to Yellowstone National Park, the world's first national park. The park is a geothermal wonder, including famous "Old Faithful," which amazingly erupts on a set schedule. Next, drive east to "Buffalo Bill" country. Cody is home to the Buffalo Bill Historical Center, which houses five museums. From June 1 to August 31, Cody hosts a rodeo every evening for your entertainment. Make a short detour on your journey to visit Little Bighorn Battlefield, the national monument that remembers the epic battle known as "Custer's Last Stand." Then, on to Sheridan, where you can ride a trolley or stroll down Main Street. Here you will find Western-style shops, taverns, and restaurants. Drive through the Black Hills and stop in the historic Wild West town of Deadwood. Continue south to Mount Rushmore with the likenesses of four U.S. presidents carved into the mountainside. Nearby, visit the Crazy Horse Memorial, where an entire mountain is being carved to resemble the Indian Chief Crazy Horse on his horse. City Highlights
