Overview Click map for larger sizeLet the story of American music unfold as you listen to and learn about the legends of the stage. Start in Nashville, the "Music City." At the Country Music Hall of Fame you will enjoy live entertainment, unique exhibits, and rare film of country music's legends. Head west for Memphis, the "Home of the Blues" and "Birthplace of Rock "n" Roll." Sun Studio launched the careers of Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, Roy Orbison, and many more. Immerse yourself in Beale Street, where there are more than 30 music clubs, restaurants, and shops. No trip to the South would be complete without a visit to Graceland - home of "The King," Elvis Presley. Also visit the Smithsonian's Rock "n" Soul Museum to learn about the history of the musicians working in the Delta and Memphis area and the music that became known as the "Memphis Sound." Head south into the Mississippi Delta and stop in Clarksdale to visit the Delta Blues Museum. Here, see the cabin where Muddy Waters grew up and learn about the people and culture of the Blues. In Natchez, see beautiful antebellum mansions, elegant plantation homes built prior to the Civil War. Then, on to the "Big Easy." The French Quarter is a good place to start exploring. Experience the history of New Orleans and see the exquisite architecture as you walk through this magnificent area. Ride on a streetcar along Canal Street to the French Market or enjoy a mule-drawn carriage ride. Enjoy Creole and Cajun food in one of the many fine restaurants.
